We believe in the goodness of getting to know our neighbors. Whether it’s our neighbors next door, down the street, or across town, we are all made for connection. It’s one of the most fundamental (and best!) parts of being human.
Yet somewhere along the way, many of us stopped knowing the people around us. We wave a little less, spend more time behind screens, and often live beside people whose names we don’t even know. Despite being more digitally connected than ever, loneliness and social isolation have become some of the greatest challenges facing our communities.
Research continues to show that meaningful relationships aren’t just nice to have—they’re essential to our well-being. People with strong social connections tend to be happier, healthier, more resilient during difficult times, and may even live longer. But here’s the encouraging part: connection doesn’t always begin with deep friendships.
